Moving Beyond Stage Theories
Most helping professionals are familiar with the stage theories of grief pioneered by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. For some clients these theories offer a helpful framework for their grief, but others are left feeling misunderstood, confused or even further burdened. A new generation of grief theories aims to support clients in finding meaning in their unique loss experiences. Together we will investigate the impact of grief on diverse populations and will explore how to creatively support our clients as they navigate “meaning making” in the rocky terrains of loss and grief.

Who: Facilitator: Lara Krawchuk, MSW, LSW, MPH is co-founder and CEO of Healing Concepts, LLC. She is an adjunct professor for University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice and West Chester University Graduate School of Social Work. She is a national lecturer on issues of grief & loss, stress management, guided imagery, creative healing and compassion fatigue.
Participants: Retreat is open to all helping professionals with a desire to explore a variety of powerful grief work theories and techniques.
